Dvořák’s String Sextet was written during an inspired time of his life, supported by grants and on the cusp of launching his career. The Sextet pays a beautiful homage to his Bohemian heritage, using folk melodies and dances in delightful ways throughout the piece. We take it up a notch and perform Joachim Raff’s dazzling Octet, an unknown gem composed by a Swiss composer who was during his lifetime compared to the likes of Mendelssohn and Schumann and is now enjoying a renaissance as people now rediscover his works. Come experience the lush sound of strings in a stunning candlelit setting – it will be a night to be remembered!
