AVATAAR – Photo Credit: Sean William ONeill
The original music composed by Avataar’s bandleader Sundar Viswanathan is inspired by the deep musical traditions of India, Africa and Brazil, rooted within the framework of modern jazz. “Imagine John Coltrane and Keith Jarrett taking in the night atmosphere of an open-air market in New Delhi while the sounds and smells of the earth and sky filter in…”.
The band will be playing pieces from both their albums: their debut album Petal, and their JUNO-winning album Worldview, which attempts to present a musical commentary on the state of our world and how leaders to fall short as models of integrity, honesty and compassion to our most valuable ‘hidden gems’, our children.
