Biglake Learn

COMMUNITY JAM SESSION

Saturday, August 16

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

We are calling out to our community to come and jam with BIGLAKE!

All instruments, at all ages and levels, are welcome!

We are putting on a public performance of a fun improvisational piece called In Sea, and we are inviting the community to join us and participate in this fun event and to help us create a big sea of sound in Wellington Rotary Park.

SHHH! Ensemble will lead a short rehearsal and direct everyone with some musical instructions at the beginning, and then everyone will perform In Sea together. In this piece, everyone can play different parts at the same time.
The more participants we have, the more effective it will be. So, spread the word, bring your family and friends and let’s make this happen!

You don’t play an instrument? No problem! You can sing the part with us!

You just want to listen? Register like everyone else to secure your spot and join in the fun!

BIGLAKE LEARN is a series of events designed to provide a deeper understanding of music and performances.

About the piece:
In Sea was written for SHHH!! Ensemble by Jesse Stewart.
It is a contemporary homage to Terry Riley‘s pioneering minimalist piece “In C.” Like the original, In Sea is a blueprint for collaboration and creative expression. Each performance is a unique experience for both listeners and performers, creating a tapestry of musical sounds and rhythmic momentum. Both meditative and propulsive, In Sea celebrates togetherness through great waves and soothing interludes, embarking on a journey that is never the same twice.
